Dr. Amna Ghazali
Amna graduated from the University of Otago, School of Dentistry, with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) with Credit, in 2016. Her first couple of years post-graduation were spent working as a dentist in various areas of Auckland, as well as volunteering overseas in developing countries both in local hospital dental units, as well as from the YWAM medical ship. It was here Amna was able to gain so much experience in all facets of dentistry. From working with very basic equipment on remote pacific islands; to fully-equipped clinics in higher economic areas of Auckland. She hopes to do more volunteer work in developing counties in the future.
In the years following on from that Amna helped set up and work in a new private practice in Northern Waikato, while still finding time to do some more volunteering as a dentist through a community services treatment scheme.
Amna is passionate about helping patients to achieve and maintain healthy teeth and gums for life. Her focus is on comprehensive care, involving her patients in the decisions around their treatment. All this is achieved in a friendly caring environment with the support of her experienced team. Many of her patients, (and colleagues), comment on her gentle and caring manner, and how she takes the time to make sure her patients are totally at ease with proceedings and with the treatment they receive.
Amna is an active member of the New Zealand Dental Association and the Auckland Dental Association regularly attending meetings and dentistry courses, as she realises the importance of seeking knowledge and expanding her skill sets. She is committed to keeping abreast of the latest technology and developments. She has also had several articles co-published nationally in dental journals.
When not in the dental clinic, Amna is a keen hiker and enjoys tramping, photography, reading, baking, and volunteering at SPCA; as well as spending quality time with her friends and family.
