Muscle relaxants are used to soften lines and wrinkles that come with age or sun-damage. They can even be used to tone down the bulky muscles on the sides of your jaw – the ones that make us grind at night.
They work by reducing the targeted muscle’s ability to contract, ‘relaxing’ the muscles into inaction. This in turn allows lines in the area caused by the repeated scrunching of the skin to soften. Over time, the body is allowed to naturally repair these lines, reducing, and preventing future wrinkles, if continually used. We use Xeomin because it has the benefit of fewer preservatives, which is preferable when using injectables long term. Dental clinicians are not just experts of the mouth, but the whole face. They are uniquely placed to administer facial aesthetic injections. Full effect can be expected within 2 weeks, with results typically lasting 2-4 months depending on individual metabolism. During this period movement is gradually recovered. It is not recommended to have treatment at intervals of less than 3 months.
We do not recommend getting anti-wrinkle treatments, if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or trying to conceive. Or if you have an active neuromuscular or neurological condition, such as palsy, myasthenia gravis or eaton lambert syndrome.
The ideal candidates for Wrinkle Relaxation treatments are typically individuals who are in good health, have realistic expectations, and are looking to treat or prevent wrinkles caused by muscle activity.

Before beginning treatment, we will firstly provide you with a complimentary consultation to ensure you are an ideal candidate and discuss your goals to tailor an individual plan just for you. Your medical history and safety are very important to us, so we take the time to discuss this in detail. After the consultation, you will know how much product we will use and precisely what it will cost. There is no obligation to have the treatment. We are always happy to answer any questions you may have and give you all the information required to make an informed decision. We offer a discreet, impartial service. We will not go ahead with a treatment if we do not believe it is in your best interest.
The injections are quick and done with small fine needles, some experience a brief sting for a few seconds, but it is often described as painless.
Although generally safe (it has been widely researched), occasionally some side effects may be experienced. These include bruising or pain at the injection site, headache &/or flu-like symptoms, redness, temporary facial weakness or drooping, allergic reaction.
- No vigorous exercise on the day of treatment (before or after ideally)
- No rubbing the area treated for 4 hours, so no facials or massage
- No lying down for 4 hours post treatment

Xeomin® is a Prescription Medicine containing 50, 100 units of incobotulinum Type A, purified Botulinum toxin type A complex for injection. It is used for the treatment of frown lines on the forehead, lateral periorbital lines and horizontal forehead lines in adults. It should be administered only by trained medical professionals. Talk to your specialist about the benefits/risks of this procedure in appearance medicine. Xeomin treatment lasts about four months and further courses of treatment may be necessary. Cautions: people receiving blood thinning medicines, care at the proposed injection sites, pregnancy and lactation. Possible side effects: headache, pain, swelling or infection at injection site, local muscle weakness including drooping eye lids, lack of feeling & nausea. Treatment last for up to 4 months. - A $50 deposit is required in advance, to be paid no later than 48 hours prior to the appointment, for all cosmetic injection treatments. This deposit will be put towards the total cost of treatment. If booked online we will request the deposit be paid, before your appointment can be confirmed.
- For all appointments (whether made online or in clinic), we require at least 48 hours’ notice for cancellation, or change to appointment date/time.
- If you cancel or change your appointment with less than 48 hours’ notice, or you do not attend your appointment, we reserve the right to retain the $50 deposit.
- We do not refund for change of mind after the treatment is completed.
- We may refund and provide goods and services within a reasonable time, where required in accordance with the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, Fair Trading Act 1986 and any other relevant laws.
- We may also use our discretion and provide a refund of the deposit, if we believe the treatment is unsuitable for you, and cannot be provided to you.
- Our procedures and products may not be suitable for you and whilst all due care and skill is exercised in treating our clients, ultimately it is your responsibility to determine if the treatment is right for you.
- For us to provide you with a great service, it is fundamental that you provide all information requested in completing consent and medical history forms and advising us of any factors that may affect your treatments.
- You also need to have realistic expectations of the results of the treatment. We encourage you to work with your clinician on what you can realistically achieve with your treatment.
- We retain the right to refuse treatment to clients under the age of 25.
- Clients must be deemed medically fit and suitable for treatment, following a consultation with one of our clinicians.
