Health and Safety
Now more than ever it is important for patients
to feel safe and protected in a dental environment
Dental Domain have increased our already strict protocols recently for both patient and staff protection.
We have elevated and updated our Infection Prevention and Control Standard Practices beyond those issued and regulated by the New Zealand Dental Council. This includes sterilisation of clinical and non-clinical areas of the practice. The whole team at Dental Domain has on-going and extensive training to meet these stringent protocols and understand the rationale behind them.
Even with the best equipment and materials, the protection of patients and staff from cross infection is compromised if the equipment and cleaning products are used incorrectly. All our staff are all well trained in cross infection control – the correct way to maintain a ‘sterile chain’. We also regularly liaise with representatives from the companies that supply our sterilisation and disinfection products to keep up-to-date with the latest products and their proper use.
All members of our team undergo continual first aid and CPR training including defibrillation, and our clinicians undergo intensive life-saving training, NZRC level 4. We also have a comprehensive, up-to-date emergency kit and an oxygen supply on hand.
This gives our patients piece of mind knowing all our instruments, equipment and surfaces are continuously sterilised to beyond the expected standards. It is just another way we deliver clinical excellence, and show our commitment to patient well-being.

We prioritise your health at every step.
Soothing environments and state of the art tech. We are keeping our community safe with medical-grade sanitisation and meticulous sterilisation procedures just for you.
A safer dental visit begins before you even come in. We will get in touch to ask if you have been feeling under the weather, in contact with anyone who has been in managed isolation, or anyone that has worked in a higher risk area such as the airport or hospital. If you have, we’ll ask you to reschedule – and make it super easy to do so. We can also offer a virtual visit if you are not sure if you can be seen. This helps keep everyone in our community healthy.
During higher levels 2 and 3 we complete on-site temperature checks before you enter, and we have staggered visiting times so our common areas are kept clear. A thorough clean down of all surfaces between patients has always been part of our procedure, we extend that to all common areas as well. We provide hand sanitiser and masks. We implement social distancing where practicable as you move through the practice. We call you in from your vehicle where we ask you to wait when we are ready to see you – so there are no wait times. You’ll be cared for in a sanitised space with sterilised equipment, by a clinical team in enhanced PPE.
We closely monitor updates from the Ministry of Health via the New Zealand Dental Association. As they update their guidelines we will update our safety practices in real-time.
Feeling feverish but need dental attention and care? We offer a virtual consult service with one of our experienced dentists, if you think you shouldn’t come in or know you can’t be seen in person. They will talk with you about your concerns and provide you with a recommendation on how to proceed.
