Face Swelling
-
Gum Infection
-
Chipped or Cracked Tooth
-
Broken Crown, Veneers, or Bridges
-
Wisdom Tooth Pain

- Toothache
- Facial Swelling
- Chipped Tooth
- Soft Tissue Injury
Call for an emergency appointment immediately as the first hour is critical for any chance of saving the tooth. We suggest you very gently clean off the root if still intact, DO NOT SCRUB IT, and try to replace it in the socket in the correct orientation as soon as possible, preferably within 30 minutes. If this is not possible store the tooth in saliva inside your cheek – but don’t swallow it! – or in milk.
Take pain relief as directed on packet.
If swelling increases dramatically or affects breathing, get to an A & E clinic as soon as possible.
Put the broken piece in a moist cloth, and rinse your mouth with warm salt water, and keep clean.
If bleeding significantly, then try to stop it by applying firm pressure on the injury with a clean cloth. If there is no bleeding, then clean the area with a clean cloth and warm water and apply a cold compress.
What to expect
at an Emergency Appointment
30 minutes or longer at the appointment is needed to properly evaluate the problem. An X-ray of the affected area, along with a thorough examination, is necessary to truly define the issue at hand. We can then evaluate your dental situation and give you a clear plan of what needs to be done to have you feeling comfortable again as soon as possible.
